چکیده

We propose to create tailor-made application servers by composing components providing support for individual non-functional properties. In this position paper we start from a static, asymmetric approach splitting the application server in two parts to support realtime properties and generalize this to a symmetric, componentized architecture. We then analyse how modelling of nonfunctional properties of systems is influenced by this application server architecture.

This development environment enables the specification , automated composition , and quality analysis of flexible , configurable middleware architectures , notably in distributed systems . Systematic Aid for Developing Middleware Architectures

Middleware is necessary for developing distributed systems. Developers compose them from reusable services provided by standard or proprietary middleware infrastructures, including the Object Management Group’s Common Object Request Broker (CORBA), Microsoft’s Distributed Component Object Model, Sun Microsystems’ Java Remote Method Invocation, and related services, to deal with nonfunctional re...

Design and Deployment of Service Oriented Applications with Non- Functional Requirements1

Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) provide a flexible and dynamic platform for implementing business services. Due to the rapid increase in the number of available services, more emphasis is put on their reliability, availability, security, etc. In order to meet such non-functional requirements, a service needs to be designed for reliability by making design decisions on an architectural leve...

POSAML: A visual modeling language for middleware provisioning

Next generation distributed applications are often hosted on heterogeneous platforms including different kinds of middleware. Due to the applications’ growing functional complexity and their multiple quality of service (QoS) requirements, system developers are increasingly facing a substantial number of middleware provisioning challenges, which include configuring, optimizing and validating the...

Peer-to-Peer and fault-tolerance: Towards deployment-based technical services

For effective components, non-functional aspects must be added to the application functional code. Likewise enterprise middleware and component platforms, in the context of Grids, services must be deployed at execution in the component containers in order to implement those aspects. This paper proposes an architecture for defining, configuring, and deploying such Technical Services in a Grid pl...

iPOJO-based Middleware Solutions for Self-Reconfiguration and Self-Optimization

In recent years, ubiquitous and pervasive scenarios have emerged as a complex ecosystem where differentiated software/hardware components interoperate wirelessly and seamlessly. The goal is to enable users to continuously access services and contents, and to always get the best out of their current environment and available resources. In such dynamic and flexible scenarios, the need emerges for...
